Dog Rescue Federation
Waggy Tails is proud to be a member of the Dog Rescue Federation. The Dog Rescue Federation is made up of voluntary, not for profit, small rescues, registered charities and individuals from across the UK, involved in rescuing and rehoming stray and abandoned dogs.
The Federation is all about volunteers and the work they do as for most it is their 'other job’.
Last year, many rescues felt that the influx of abandoned dogs into pounds was unsustainable and that drastic measures were required to stop the indiscriminate breeding of dogs, particularly the bull breeds, of which many are mistreated and especially difficult to re-home.
A representative group decided to find out how rescues could be “heard at government level” so they went to Parliament to meet with Roger Gale MP. He advised that to achieve a 'voice' or any influence in making change happen, that a federation should be formed. This Federation would represent the hundreds of small rescues and individuals working tirelessly to save lives of dogs born to die, for no other reason than there are too many of them.
