On Tuesday 3rd January an ad. appeared on freecycle Wimborne (not freegle Wimborne) offering labrador puppies. This is a scam, have nothing to do with it. It has been reported to the relevant authorities.

Garden Fund Raisers

Last Sunday June and Bill Adams hosted a ‘Garden Gallery’ where many framed pictures were for sale in their garage and garden with excellent refreshments for the browsers and buyers. The marvellous sum of £500 was raised! Thank you so much.

Next Sunday, 4th September, a garden opening under the National Gardens Scheme is to be held at 14 Chine Walk, West Parley, BH22 8PU. The time is 2 – 5pm and Paul and Wendy Jefferies will be donating the proceeds of their refreshments sales to Waggy Tails. If you have the ‘yellow book’ it’s garden 73.

Building and Buttons, that is!

Building work is under way at Helen’s House. Can’t wait to see what’s happening. Photos to come soon.

Buttons? Some of our ‘crafty’ volunteers have a plan to make decorative offerings for the Christmas Fair. They need small to medium-sized flat buttons. Please drop any boxes or bags of them into one of our shops, labelled ‘for Pat C’.

Just checked in on Waggies facebook page. We have 262 friends. Of course it’s not really about numbers but about support for our work. Many fundraising ideas in the pipeline - Skittles and Auction Nights are booked in and plans are afoot for something for the more adventurous. The bravest I ever get is a bit a bit of Extreme Knitting By the way, we’d like an update on Paul Chapman’s training runs please!

Helen’s House …

… is the name we have chosen for our Animal Rescue Centre.

It is named after Helen Lathwell, who very sadly died four years ago. She was ‘the perfect volunteer’.

Helen was a volunteer at our little shop in Walkford and gave unstintingly of her time and commitment; on Sundays and Bank Holidays in the summer she would open the shop to give campers somewhere to spend their money! She loved animals, loved the charity and was a happy, lovely person with a ready smile. Her spirit will live on in the home where we will care for unfortunate dogs until they find their happy endings in ‘forever homes’.

We received news today that our Planning Application has been successful.

There are so many people over so many years who have worked towards and contributed to this day. It is a tribute to every one of them that we now have a place of our own to continue to help all those dogs that we can.

No time to sit and congratulate ourselves, though, there’s work to be done!
